Building Modifications

Description

Since we’ve bought Book of the Estate, the system for landholding has been changed from how income is calculated. Annual Maintenance seems to have been removed, and things give more reliable income. This page is meant to catalogue some changes to keep the tone consistent.

Special

Land Expansion

  • Cost: Current Income – 6£ (e.g. 10 Fields = 4£, 11 = 5£ etc.)
  • Result: Increase your Field Size by 1.
  • Requirement: Take a penalty to your Stewardship and your Loyalty (Lord) Passion equal to the Cost of a Land Expansion. Each year you must test both skills, and on both succeeding your arable land increases by 1.
    • Crit: If you manage to build and crit one or both skills, refund 1£ per skill critted (only on a successful year)
    • Fumble: You have offended your Lord or bungled the building. The improvement is lost.

  • Benefits: If your wife would die in Childbirth, she may make a CON roll. On a success, she survives with an aging roll. On a critical, no roll.

Bower

  • Cost: 5£
  • Benefits: Annual Roll for Flirting

Drill Square

  • Cost: 5£
  • Benefits: Annual Roll for Battle

Fish Pond

  • Cost: 5£
  • Income: 1£
  • Special
    • Increases Bad Weather by 1 for your Manor.

Goose Pen

  • Type: Investment
  • Cost: 5£
  • Maintenance: 1£
  • Income: 1£
  • Benefits: Annual Roll for Indulgent

Hunting Lodge

  • Type: Enhancement
  • Cost: 5£
  • Income: 1£
  • Maintenance: 1£
  • Benefits: Annual Tick for Hunting

Irrigation

  • Type: Development
  • Cost: 3£
  • Reduce Hate Landlord: 1
  • Maintenance: 1£
  • Grants: +1 Stewardship for every 5 full points of Bad Weather being over 10. (e.g. +1 at 15-19, +2 at 20-24 etc.)

Memorial Room

  • Type: Enhancement
  • Cost: £ equal to the Glory Bonus of the person being Memorialized
  • Maintenance: 1£
  • One-Time Glory: Equal to Cost
  • Benefits
    • Passions involving the memorialized person do not automatically decrease after their death.
    • You gain an annual tick in one of the notable traits of the memorialized person.
    • Note: You must keep a Passion that directly relates to the person in question to benefit from this

Ornate Bedroom Suite

  • Type: Enhancement
  • Cost: 2£
  • Annual Glory: 1
  • Benefits: +1 to Childbirth Rolls

Scriptorium

  • Cost: 20£
  • Income: 2£
  • Annual Glory: 1
  • Special
    • Grants annual roll for Read (Latin)
    • If you reduce Income to 0, check your Generous for that year.

Saltery

  • Cost: 10£
  • Income: 1£

Secret Garden

  • Cost: 10£
  • Maintenance: 1£
  • Annual Glory: 2
  • Benefits: Every year you may increase one of the following by 1d6. You may select each year, provided you have the opportunity to meditate in your Secret Garden: APP, Compose, Faerie Lore, Flirting, Play, or Singing

  • Benefits: Annual Roll to Prudent
